Description
As you can tell, it's an old drawing from high school and the graphite is fading BAD. You can see my actual pencil strokes....yeesh.
There was an contest on MTV about making the cover for Korn's "Issues" album. the winner would get $10,000 and a chance to meet the band. I found out two weeks before the contest was over and I really loved 'em, so I worked hard on this.
I put a kid in an obviously bad situation, which was kind of a theme Korn had back then. I put signs of and the means of abuse, and even put the icon of their record label on the fast-food bag on the bed. I was done 2 days before the deadline and I left it for my mother to Fed-Ex it overnight while I went to work...well, I guess you know how the story ends. My heart broke when I got home late that night and it was still there on the table...*sigh*
People from all different backgrounds have really loved this, which surprises me. They've all told me that I should just send it to Korn anyways, but after all this time I feel I could really do better just re-drawing it first, and I'm not gonna do that.
Also, note how there is a torn teddy bear.... a frustrating-beyond-all-belief coincidence for that's what ended up winning the contest. A pic of a torn bear, though in color.
Size: 13x13
Media: Ebony pencil, 0.5 mechanical pencil
