Been working 60 hour weeks at my job for months now, which doesn't leave much time to invest in new art. They are creating a second shift to reduce our hours to human-levels, so I should be able to finally tap into all of the ideas I've been keeping notes on soon! Must... keep hope... alive! I hope you are all doing well.

I just checked my DA gallery, and I haven't submitted a full-size graphite drawing since my 2007 Hellboy! WHOA! Everything I've done since then (Besides Bender, who was small) has been digital, which doesn't account for much. I have a few potential commissions coming up soon, and I've felt the itch to really draw for a long time, so in the interests of getting back in the groove, I've started my first 18x24 pencil drawing in years. I'm excited! I hope I've still "got it". I had fun drawing Bender, but this is a large portrait with a full background. Gonna take awhile.

It's a fan-art of a popular Star Wars character. Haven't drawn a Star Wars piece for MANY years, so it's looooong overdue. I've actually done the preliminary layouts for a few different Star Wars portraits I wanna do. So once I get my confidence back, hopefully I'll keep my momentum going and knock them all out! Wish me luck!

Oh, and I'll make scans as I go to show the progress like I used to do.

I wanna jazz up my journal skin, but first I gotta learn how to do that.

So, uh, how're you?

My baby boy Caden is 8 months old, this is his very first Christmas, and it's been fun as hell decorating the place and getting him presents, though he's not old enough to understand any of it yet. I haven't done much artistically since he's been born, other than the few things I've submitted. Who knew raising a baby was so time consuming? Heh heh.

I hope everyone has a great holiday, and eats/drinks a bunch of fattening things!

Thank you for all of the favs, comments, and collection adds while I've been mostly absent, only intermittently checking in. It's all much appreciated!


I have my first kid on the way, a boy, Caden Lee Norvell. And knowing he is on the way has lit an artistic fire under me again, that has been mostly dormant because of my Xbox, work, and daily routine. I have still been writing my book, but it has also gone through a few transformations, so it's been a slow but fun process. It is my first time after all. I've never written more than poems and short stories in the past.

I uploaded one of the early designs of one of the main characters from my book, and I'll upload more after I finish some of the other character's designs.

Has it really been over a year?! WHOA. I'm ashamed. I've spent so much time writing a book, and doing some concept stuff for the illustrations for said book that I haven't drawn anything significant in awhile. Nothing worth uploading anyway. I can also blame my Xbox. I've had a lot of great games to get caught up on when I'm not writing. (Red Dead Redemption is my current time-sink.)

I'll work on something worth posting soon. I MUST!
